MISSION STATEMENT

January 23rd, 2008

Thank you for visiting my website and I hope you find the information presented interesting, but more importantly, informative.

I have been asked by many of my readers why I make buying a copy of my book so difficult. In a sense this is where my mission statement comes into play. First, and foremost, I did not write my book to make a huge profit. In fact, I didn’t care if my book made a profit at all, but since I have sold many copies, I am very grateful. But my intent in writing, Gangs In Our Schools An Educators Guide, was to give educators the knowledge I gained while working with gang members in a classroom setting.

While teaching to this population I learned how the gang system operates and the mandates gang members live under, but most importantly, I learned how to effectively teach to them. This in itself was the most rewarding aspect of teaching to this population.

So if I didn’t write my book for profit why did I write it?  Well to be honest with you, I had gone to a professional development seminar sponsored by my school district. While there I found an intriguing seminar on street gangs being taught by the local police department. Although the information presented was quite informative, what I also encountered were educators asking questions about how to deal with members in the classroom.

Unfortunately, the answers given were how the police dealt with gang members on the streets. And in my experience, how a gang member is dealt with in the classroom is a totally different dynamic than how they are dealt with in the community.

While I was standing there listening to my peers’ questions, I knew I had this information because of my experience working with members. It was then that I decided to record all of my knowledge and experience working with members, in a book for educators. And so, Gangs In Our Schools An Educators Guide, was born.

So, to answer my critics and others who have inquired as to buying a copy of my book and why it is so difficult, I can only say I am sure you will not be disappointed with the information contained within its covers.

In addition, I  also stand firm in my commitment to practically give away as much information as I can, without compromising all the contents within my book.  My intent is to inform educators about gang members in an educational setting, so they have the knowledge to deal with this population in their schools and classrooms.

That is also the reason my website was created, with the main emphasis being placed on my blog page: gangsinourschools.com/blog. So educators have a resource to ask questions and get manageable answers on dealing with gang members in the classroom.

If you are a new reader or someone who has contacted me in the past, I would love to hear from you.  And with your input, maybe we can bring this issue to the fore-front and establish manageable solutions in dealing with this population and the problems they create for educators.

I feel that by bringing this issue to light is the only way to stop the trend of gangs in education.

WELCOME TO THE NEWSROOM

April 11th, 2007

Welcome to gangsinourschools.com/newsroom.

This site was created exclusively for anyone who needs information on street gangs in an educational setting.

All information in the newsroom may be used by the media, or educators, who deal with children that wish to partake in gang rituals.

On the right hand side of this post are pages filled with information on street gangs in an educational setting, as well as author bio, media news, data sheet, book testimonials, and other noteworthy related material.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: I realize that many publishing companies desire book testimonials from highly touted individuals in the sectors the book is written about. But I felt a different approach was needed, in this case, because of the nature of my book and who I intended my audience to be.

By no means am I denying the general public this information. In fact, I strongly agree that if anyone has school aged children this information is just as critical for them. But the bottom line is this book was written and is specifically geared toward anyone who deals with gang members in or out of an educational setting, with an emphasis towards educators, counselors, security, and school resource officers.

My intent is to get this information, one state at a time, one school district at a time, to all educators who deal with gang members in education. I realize it is convenient to run down to the local bookstore to purchase a copy of my book, or any other book for that matter. But I feel to keep the integrity of this information to the people who need it most, it was prudent to limit how the book can be purchased. Because of this I made the decision to make this book available only through my website as well as through the order form in the back of the book.

I do realize a risk is taken when ordering something on the Internet, especially if a person is taking only COD orders such as myself. But I can assure you, your product will arrive in a timely fashion and you will be fully refunded your money if you do not agree this information helps you identify and deal with gang members in your classroom or school.

I am upholding this ordering policy because I want only professionals, who deal with these children, to be able to obtain this information. Because of this you have the right to not purchase my book or support my mission, and I do respect your decision.

But if you are contemplating buying a copy of my book, I feel you won’t be disappointed with the information contained within. Therefore, I felt that instead of getting an expert on education to promote my book, educators who have already used this information to their advantage have written testimonials for Gangs in Our Schools An Educators Guide.

I believe it is important to let the people in the trenches do the talking instead of someone who is not or has not been in a school or classroom setting. All of the testimonials contained within have been sent to me, by educators, who have read my book. I wish to thank them very much for their time because I realize just how busy it is being a teacher. Again, thank you for your interest.
